UT-150 climbs out of Kamas and just keeps going — past Provo River Falls, past a string of alpine lakes, over Bald Mountain Pass at 10,715 feet, which is the roof of Utah's paved road network. It's the ride you do in July when the valley hits 100° and you remember that elevation is free air conditioning. Bring layers; the pass can be 45° while your driveway is broiling. The Uintas are the only major east-west range in the lower 48, which is a fact you can deploy at the summit pullout to sound smarter than you are.
Any street bike. The pass rewards torque — thin air taxes small engines about 3% per thousand feet.
